New Benefits From The Government

Here are some new benefits that have been introduced in place of CERB.

CRCB – Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit
Individuals who are not able to work due to COVID-19 and are caring for children under the age of 12 or a family member who is recovering from COVID-19 can apply for this benefit, each week for up to 26 weeks if needed. This benefit is available until September 25, 2021.

CRSB – Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit
Individuals who are unable to work because they are sick or are in self-isolation can apply for this benefit each week for up to a total of 2 periods till September 25, 2021. Individuals who have serious health conditions and a high risk of getting COVID-19 can also apply for this benefit.

For the benefits stated above, you can receive $500 per week (26 weeks for CRCB and 2 weeks for CRSB). Unlike CERB, where $2000 gross was releases per period, CRCB and CRSB will be holding tax back by sending $450 not the gross $500.

CRB – Canada Recovery Benefit
Individuals who are out work due to COVID-19 or whose income is reduced by 50% and do not qualify for employment insurance (IE) may apply for CRB to receive $1000 for a period of 2 weeks (with $100 withheld), for a net amount of $900. You may apply for a total of 26 weeks until September 25, 2021.
